Privacy Policy

• Account details: your name, email address, and a securely hashed password. We never store your password itself.
• Sign-in data: session records, including the IP address and browser details of each sign-in, used to keep your account secure.
• Your content: videos you upload or link to (including the link itself), the extracted audio, transcripts with word timings, AI highlight analyses, the Shorts and thumbnails we render, and any music or sound effects you upload. Your videos may include the voices and images of you and others.
• Billing details from Lemon Squeezy: your plan, subscription status, renewal dates and customer ID. Card details go directly to Lemon Squeezy and are never shared with us.
• Usage records: render jobs, their logs, and how many Shorts you've used each month.
• Messages you send us at our support or billing addresses.

• To provide the service you signed up for: storing and processing your videos, rendering Shorts, enforcing plan limits, and running your account (POPIA's “performance of a contract” basis).
• To keep the service secure and prevent abuse such as stolen accounts or free-trial farming (our legitimate interests).
• To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
• To email you about your account, such as verification links, password resets, billing and important service changes. We don't send marketing email without your consent.

We don't sell your information, we don't show ads, and we don't use your content to train AI models ourselves.

We use these service providers (“operators” under POPIA), each only for the job described:

When you paste a Twitch, Kick or YouTube link, our server downloads that video from the platform. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect people's safety or our legal rights.

Your account data and stored videos are hosted in South Africa. The providers marked above outside South Africa process some of your information abroad. We only use providers bound by agreements or laws that give it a level of protection comparable to POPIA, as section 72 of POPIA requires.

• Source videos (uploads and downloaded VODs) are deleted 30 days after they're added.
• Shorts, transcripts and highlight analyses are kept while your account is open, unless you delete them sooner.
• When you delete your account (from the account menu, or by asking us), we delete your account and content within 30 days, usually within minutes. We keep only a one-way scrambled form of your email address, as a record that the deletion happened and, with this month's Shorts count, so the monthly free allowance can't be reset by deleting and re-creating an account. The usage count is removed after the following month.
• Billing records are kept as long as tax law requires, usually five years.

We use encrypted connections, hashed passwords, per-account isolation of stored files, and restricted administrative access. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we'll notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

You can ask us to:

• confirm what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
• correct or delete information that's wrong, out of date or no longer needed;
• object to processing based on our legitimate interests;
• withdraw consent where we rely on it.

We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in. Your browser also stores a few preferences locally, such as your theme and dashboard selections. We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. Lemon Squeezy's checkout pages set their own cookies under its privacy policy.

ClippedShort isn't for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

We'll update the date at the top when this policy changes, and email you about significant changes before they take effect.
